
In 1996, Ms. Isla was awarded the Silver Medal at the prestigious Alicia Alonso International Ballet Competition, marking an important milestone in her international career. Her performance credits include engagements with the Neoclassic Company of the University of Mexico, Ballet Concerto in Puerto Rico, and extensive international touring.
A sought-after teacher and guest instructor, Ms. Isla has taught at studios nationally and internationally. In 2008, she joined the faculty of the Milwaukee Ballet School, where she continued to share her deep commitment to classical ballet training. Her choreographic credits include the creation of full-length ballets for a wide range of schools and companies.
Ms. Isla is also the founder of Healing With Ballet, an outreach initiative close to her heart that brings the transformative power of ballet to patients at the Froedtert Hospital Cancer Center in Wisconsin, reflecting her belief in dance as both an art form and a source of healing.
Monica Isla is a master teacher and Ballet Mistress for the Sarasota Cuban Ballet Studio Company. A native of Havana, Cuba, she began her professional career with Ballet de Camagüey, performing under the direction of Fernando Alonso, before rising to the rank of principal dancer with ProDanza, led by Laura Alonso.
