Created and Directed by Conny Mathôt , California Dance Classics is built on a platform of integrity and fairness for all participants.
It’s said that necessity is the mother of all invention. Conny has dedicated her entire life to the art of Ballet. A strong desire to better the industry has driven Conny to re-invent Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance Competition, setting a new standard of excellence. Her experience and expertise in the Ballet industry has afforded her the skill necessary to form and lead California Dance Classics.
What We Are About
Integrity
Many elements of our model set us apart and above. Our primary focus is on the Ballet Dancer and their experience at our competition events. We accomplish this by delivering what has long been missed in the dance competition industry; Integrity.
Fairness
Age grouping is key in offering a fair and balanced judging platform. At California Dance Classics, we feel it is imperative and advantageous to keep younger, less experienced dancers from having to compete against older, more experienced dancers; thus, age groups are divided thoughtfully and adhered to throughout each event. This process eliminates unnecessary pressure on the dancers, and a more fair opportunity to gain recognition. Reference our Age Divisions Page for a breakdown of such age groups.
Excellence
We offer highly qualified and well respected Judges, fairness in age grouping and performance time allowances, clear and constructive critique reports, guidance during our pre-competition Master Class, and a positive on-stage dancing experience for each and every CDC competition participant.
California Dance Classics Judges are selected through a strict vetting process. Those considered for this critical position must have an appreciation for Ballet, knowledge of the art, a positive reputation, solid experience, and a genuine desire to encourage our participants.
OUR JUDGES WILL NOT SCORE BASED ON FAVORITISM, NEPOTISM, OR ANY OTHER UNFAIR BIAS.
Venue Information
Our event Venues are also carefully considered and inspected to ensure a safe, comfortable, and clean environment. We know the time spent back-stage is an important part of the overall experience. Our Venues offer multiple and clean restrooms, ample space for dressing and changing, large stages with proper flooring, comfortable seating for audience attendees, and much more. Venue locations are also reviewed carefully. You’ll find special rates on quality hotels nearby, easy access to parking, and local attractions for your down time.
